With dolphins to a smile and greater peace of mind - Lojzík's journey

Lojzík is five years old, and life has been very difficult for him from the very beginning.

He suffers from cerebral palsy, central hypotonia, left-sided hemiparesis, visual impairment, swallowing disorder, epilepsy, and delayed speech development.

But that is not the whole story.

Lojzík has an incredible will, strength, and desire to live life to the fullest. He often says, "I want to too." He wants to do and achieve what his two older brothers [Martin, 8, and Hynek, 7] and his healthy friends do. They are his greatest inspiration and motivation.

Every day is a challenge for him. In addition to his physical disability and speech problems, the otherwise sociable and smiling Lojzík suffers from sudden and severe mood swings. These episodes manifest themselves in anger, screaming, and self-harm. These are very difficult situations for the whole family, whether they occur in public or behind the walls of their home. Frequent and severe fatigue and sleep problems complicate his attendance at kindergarten and his daily routine. Nevertheless, we are not giving up.

Lojzík undergoes physical therapy, occupational therapy, is in the care of a clinical speech therapist, swims at the Paraplavání Kontakt club in Karlovy Vary, and attends intensive rehabilitation stays.

He enjoys contact with animals the most – he loves horses, cats, dogs, and... dolphins, which he longs to meet.

Now Lojzík has the chance to undergo dolphin therapy in Turkey, which experts have recommended as a great hope for his further development. Thanks to the powerful experience it provides, dolphin therapy helps to trigger positive emotions, stabilize the psyche, and support mental and physical development – especially in the areas of speech and self-expression.

It is important for Lojzík that his whole family – his brothers and parents – participate in the stay. Without them, he becomes homesick and has tantrums. He cannot cope with longer separations, which reduces the effect of the therapy.
