What does having a job mean to a person?

A paycheck. Independence. The feeling of being useful. Colleagues to chat with in the morning. A place where you belong every day. For most of us, it’s so commonplace that we don’t even think about it. But for a person with a physical disability, the opportunity to work may not be a given.

And that’s exactly why Borůvka Praha has been around for 28 years. We help people with disabilities so that their world doesn’t end at their front door. So they can work, earn a living, meet other people, have colleagues and friends, and—above all—feel like they’re a valuable part of society.

In our sheltered workshop, seamstresses sew. At the wheelchair-accessible TA KAVÁRNA, they make coffee and serve customers. At the Borůvka Shop in Vyšehrad, they sell products from sheltered workshops, and at Koloběh stores, they sell clothing and assist customers.

Each of them has a job. A place of their own. Their own daily life.

And now we’re afraid we won’t be able to keep them. We need help right now. We’ve lost a long-time partner and sponsor, and Borůvka Praha finds itself in a truly critical financial situation. It’s the summer of 2026, and we’re at risk of not having enough money to cover the remaining portion of our employees’ wages—employees with physical disabilities.

The Labor Office covers 75% of their wages. However, we have to cover the remaining 25%. And it is precisely this portion that we are currently lacking. You might say, “It’s only a quarter of their wages.” But for us, this 25% means the difference between whether a person comes to work tomorrow or stays home.

And so today we ask you: Help us ensure that our employees have a place to come to tomorrow. So that the doors of TA KAVÁRNA open in the morning. So that the sewing machines start up in the workshop. So that the Borůvka Shop opens. So that people who have worked hard to build their independence don’t have to ask again whether there’s even a place for them in society.

Please help us get through this difficult period. Every contribution brings us closer to the amount we need to continue paying our employees’ wages and keep their jobs.

And if you can’t contribute right now, simply sharing this appeal will help us. Maybe someone who can help us will see it. And maybe, thanks to you, someone will be able to come to work tomorrow, say hello to their colleagues, brew the first morning coffee, open the store, or sit down at a sewing machine. It may seem like a small gesture to you, but to him or her, it could mean the world.

Please help us ensure that Borůvka Praha can continue to be a place where people come not only to work, but also to feel that they belong.

Thank you for not leaving Borůvka Praha to face this alone. ❤️
