Míra Won’t Give Up His Fight Against Leukemia

My Story

Fate has dealt me a hand that isn’t easy to play. Unfortunately, the chemotherapy didn’t work, and the leukemia hasn’t retreated. But I am not someone who gives up. I am now facing a second bone marrow transplant, and I am determined to keep fighting with every ounce of strength I have left.

I don’t see this as a defeat, but as another round in a grueling match that I intend to win.

I want to thank everyone who supported me during the first fundraiser. Your donations were used exactly as promised: to purchase a car for safe travel to the doctor, an air purifier and a robotic vacuum to maintain a sterile environment, and to cover the costs of my treatment so far.

Now, I face a new challenge. I am looking at 6 weeks in total isolation, followed by a recovery period of at least 6 months. It will be a long journey during which I will be completely dependent on the help of others.

How will the funds from this second fundraiser be used?

The collected funds will allow me to get through this critical period and ensure a safe environment for my recovery:

Hygiene and a Safe Home: I need to purchase a new washer-dryer, as the dryer in my current set has stopped working. For a transplant patient, using a dryer is essential to eliminate bacteria and mold in clothing and linens. I also need to get a new sofa – my current one is worn out, and for the long months of recovery, I need a clean, comfortable place that provides proper physical support.

Household Expenses: Covering rent, utilities, and daily living costs (food, toiletries, phone). Without an income, maintaining a household during this time is impossible for me.

Connection and Transport: A laptop, which will be my only connection to the outside world during the weeks in isolation. Also, fuel costs and car maintenance for frequent medical check-ups.

Treatment and Diet: Copayments for medication and a strict, financially demanding low-bacteria diet.

Care for Rockzanka: Providing food and reliable pet-sitting during my hospitalization so my dog companion doesn’t suffer.

I’m so sorry I won't be able to sit out in the garden with you this year. But I have a small request. Please send the money you would have spent on me to this fundraiser; together, it will help me immensely to get through this journey.

My Goal

I know what I’m fighting for. I’m fighting for every new day in nature, for trips with my metal detector and Rockzanka by my side. I look forward to returning to my woodworking, which fulfills me so much. But I have one more big motivation: after my treatment, I want to return to actively helping others, just as I did before, and feel useful once again.
