Dear Donors,
I have decided to ask for your help for our MiniMimiUA project once again. The number of mothers in need, both in the Czech Republic and Ukraine, who lack basic necessities for their children is growing. Many of these mothers face uncertainty, isolation, and fear for their children's future.
In 2022, we started providing humanitarian aid and necessities overnight to mothers facing hardship. This includes those who, through no fault of their own, found themselves homeless due to the war in Ukraine, as well as Czech mothers who find themselves in need due to an economically unsustainable situation.
As of 2026, we will no longer have support from People in Need and are searching for a permanent donor to take us "under their wing." Although we are already in negotiations, we need to cover the first few months to prevent us from having to close down. Moreover, our aid has expanded, and we are regularly helping a growing number of Czech mothers as well.
How it all began
After the start of the war in Ukraine, many women who were in the late stages of pregnancy or with a newborn baby fled to the Czech Republic.
"MiniMimiUA gave me not only things but, most importantly, hope and the feeling that I am not alone."
They didn't know the language, they were disoriented, they didn't know where or how to register for childbirth, they needed hygiene supplies for the maternity ward, and a translator. Very often, they were living in hostels without the possibility to do laundry... and other things that are completely normal for us. The calm period and focus on childbirth or a newborn were replaced by enormous stress and feelings of confusion.
We began providing these women with all the necessary equipment, helped with registration at the maternity hospital, found a translator for the birth, and helped secure dignified housing or apartment furnishings. We were able to do all of this thanks to the generosity of Czech mothers who provided children’s equipment, the significant financial support of the PPF Foundation, ECAV Prague, Svatojánsky Spolek, Olga Shmaidenko, Love in Action Fund, the support of small contributors, and especially the People in Need organization, which is covering the costs of diapers, nutrition, hygiene supplies, and all essential expenses associated with providing aid until December 2025.
The War Continues, Mothers Still Need Us
The war has not ended, and these women, who are here alone with their children, continue to need support because many of them are here by themselves and cannot yet work due to the age of their child. Furthermore, due to the fact that electricity commonly runs for only a few hours in Ukraine, more mothers are arriving here for the winter.
Some of the women—the mothers—have children with very serious disabilities, oncological illnesses, and some have lived through horrors that are difficult to even describe and need support and psychological care.
How Will the Collection Help?
We are increasingly being approached by Czech mothers who are single parents and have found themselves in need. We have currently helped over 700 mothers and their children, and we continue to provide basic necessities to most of them. We supply mothers with diapers, children’s clothing, hygiene products, baby formula, and all equipment for infants and children. We have introduced a system where mothers return items they no longer need, allowing us to provide them to others.
MiniMimiUA is not just a distribution point. It is hope and support for families in difficult times, a place where mothers find safety, understanding, and practical help.
We are collecting money so that we can continue operating from January 2026 and survive until we find a long-term donor. In addition to hygiene supplies, diapers, nutrition, and other essential needs for children, the funds will cover the rent for our warehouse and distribution center, electricity and gas costs, and the salary of one of our colleagues. Our assistance has also started being used by Czech mothers who, for some reason, have found themselves in need and are either before or shortly after giving birth.

We tentatively named our aid project MiniMimiUA immediately in March 2022. We are located at Eliášova 46, Prague 6, and if you would like to come and see how we operate, we would be happy to give you a tour.
