Let's support a gifted student Matouš in master's study in London!

My name is Matouš Schnabel and I am eighteen years old. I started my studies at the eight-year Masarykovo Klasické Gymnázium in Říčany. In the tenth grade, I successfully participated in the selection process of the French Institute in Prague, which supported 16 young talents from the Czech Republic to study in France in 2022.

Here I studied at the Lycée Gustave Courbet in Belfort, where I graduated this year with excellent results.

Mathematics is my passion and I have been working hard on it for a long time. Thanks to my achievements and my enthusiasm, since I was sixteen I have been tutored voluntarily by a professor of mathematics at the Belfort Montbéliard University of Technology (UTBM), PhD. Michel Lenczner. Under his guidance, I am already developing a second mathematical theory of my own.

At the beginning of July, after a tough selection process, I was admitted to the MSci Mathematics programme at University College London (UCL) along with about thirty other applicants.

More than 500 applicants from all over the world took part in the admissions process. It is a four-year course leading to a Master's degree.

How will the fundraiser help?

I would very much like to study mathematics at UCL, but I do not have the necessary financial resources. I am currently trying to approach selected investors, sponsors and organisations who would help me realise my dream of studying at one of the world's top universities. At the moment, I already have one sponsor who, together with my family, will contribute to part of my tuition fees.

After completing my studies, I would like to pursue a Ph.D. and become a member of the academic community. My future goal is to become a university professor involved in research activities. I would also like to support young enthusiastic students and give them the opportunities that many people, especially Professor Lenczner, have given me. 

I believe that studying at UCL will give me one of the best educations, open doors to many career opportunities and enable me to contribute to the field of mathematics. I would like to continue to represent the Czech Republic at the international level in the most dignified way and to represent my country in the best possible light.
