Radka is a single mother who has been struggling with a very difficult life situation for more than ten years. After her husband left in 2010, she was left with debts related to the family house, which was eventually sold during insolvency proceedings. She was forced to leave the house with her two sons, and for several years they lived in temporary shelters. Since 2019, they have been renting a cabin in Kamenný Přívoz – an uninsulated building lacking basic sanitary facilities.

At the end of last year, their situation worsened due to extremely high electricity costs caused by an unsuitable tariff that could not be changed, along with low advance payments. The debt for electricity exceeded CZK 46,000.

To avoid having the electricity disconnected, Radka had to take out a private interest-free loan (from the chairwoman of the Daveláček association), who has long been helping her not only with food aid but also financially. However, Radka is unable to repay even this amount. In total, she had to borrow CZK 68,000 – her income during this period was not even sufficient to cover regular household expenses, partly due to the cost of sports equipment for her sons, whom she tries to support in their athletic activities despite the difficult circumstances. Radka works two shifts, but even that is still not enough to cover the family's basic expenses, let alone repay the debt.

Due to prolonged stress and exhaustion, her mental health has significantly deteriorated. She is taking strong antidepressants and is currently unable to even consider changing jobs or taking on additional work, such as part-time gigs. Despite this, she is doing everything she can to manage the situation. Both sons help when they can through occasional part-time jobs. But without outside assistance, there is no chance that Radka and her sons could get out of this desperate situation on their own. Any kind of support means not only financial help but, above all, hope — hope that one day they will be able to live with dignity and without fear of the future.

Spolek Daveláček (The Daveláček Association) was founded in 2013 with the aim of helping children from socially disadvantaged families, particularly in the areas of education and integration. It also organized community events such as Children's Day, Earth Day, and Christmas markets, using the proceeds to support families in need. In the past, it successfully implemented a project focused on assisting families with young children under the Operational Programme Employment. In recent years, the association has primarily focused on food and financial aid for single parents and lonely seniors. Daveláček works closely with the township of Davle and is an integral part of the local social support network.
