Jirka's Life Full Speed Ahead – With Your Help!

I come from Jindřichův Hradec, and my family lives in Kunžak. I moved to Brno when I started studying at Kociánka, and eventually, I decided to stay here. In 2004, I became independent and started living on my own.

I was born with cerebral palsy associated with quadriplegia. Currently, I live alone in a supported living apartment. I can only partially move my head and right hand, which I use to operate a computer.

 How will the fundraiser help?

Otherwise, I need help with everything—from dressing, eating, and bathing to transferring to a wheelchair and repositioning in bed. Personal assistance helps me with household care, cooking, feeding, hygiene, dressing, transfers, positioning, communicating with others, and accompanying me to the doctor, errands, and trips. This assistance is essential for me not only at home but also when handling administrative tasks, visiting doctors, or going on outings. Without this help, I simply wouldn't be able to function.

Something else about me

I have several hobbies, including attending Kometa Brno hockey games and Truck Trial races. I also enjoy working on the computer and collecting coins and banknotes.

However, my health condition often worsens. For the past few years, I’ve had the most problems in the spring. When the hockey season ends, I often end up in the hospital with pneumonia. So far, I’ve always managed to get through it. My bones are fragile, and I’ve broken my hip twice. Because of this, I can’t sit for long periods and have to use many cushions for positioning. Assistants need to handle me carefully to avoid another fracture. I also live with a urinary catheter, which requires regular hospital visits for replacements.

I want to manage my personal affairs:

- My need for assistance is so high that I can't cover all costs with the care allowance.

- I need support with writing emails and phone communication.

I want to maintain a satisfactory state of health:

- I need support in communicating with doctors.

- Assistance with obtaining compensatory aids.

- Prevention of bedsores through repositioning with assistance.

I want to enjoy my hobbies, attend Kometa games, and go on trips in the summer:

- I need support with planning assistance and transportation.

- Facilitation of planned event offers.

Personal assistance helps me manage the basic things I wouldn't be able to do without the help of assistants.
